45-Minute 10K Pace
Required pace: 4:30 /km · 7:15 /mileFinish time 45:00
A 45-minute 10K is a strong time for a runner who trains a few days a week. The target is 4:30 per kilometre, so 5K should come up at 22:30 on the clock.
The second half decides it. Many runners hold 4:30 to 6 km and then drift by five to ten seconds per kilometre, so practise running the final 3 km at goal pace when you are tired.

Frequently asked questions
What pace do I need for a 45-minute 10K?
Hold 4:30 per kilometre, or about 7:15 per mile, for all 10 km.
What half marathon time matches a 45-minute 10K?
The Riegel formula puts a 45:00 10K level with a half marathon of about 1:39. With enough long runs, a sub-1:40 half is a realistic next goal.
